IDEAL Electrical™ Introduces Ultimate Troubleshooting Tool with New Circuit Tracer

July 24, 2025

IDEAL Electrical™ unveils the SureTrace™ Circuit Tracer Pro – a flagship addition to its trusted SureTrace line that offers premium performance. Built for speed, accuracy, and troubleshooting convenience, the SureTrace Pro combines industry-exclusive innovations like a built-in auto continuity tester, dual rotating OLED displays, and AC amperage measurement via a rechargeable Inductive Sensing Clamp. The all-in-one SureTrace Pro empowers professional electrical contractors and electricians to save time and lighten their toolbelts by eliminating the need for multiple meters.

“We know troubleshooting can be a time-consuming task, and it’s our commitment as electrical industry experts to make electricians’ jobs easier,” said Carmen Cardillo, General Manager of IDEAL Electrical. “With the SureTrace Pro, we’re thrilled to deliver a next-generation product that incorporates the latest engineering advancements to provide ultimate, time-saving convenience on the job.”

Over 20 years ago, IDEAL Electrical made significant advancements to existing circuit tracing technology with the launch of its first generation of tracers. IDEAL circuit tracers quickly became an indispensable tool for identifying breakers, locating dead shorts and shared neutrals, and tracing conductive materials through walls, ceilings, and floors. A second generation of IDEAL circuit tracers were released around 2012 and offered additional enhancements in useability and accuracy.

IDEAL is proud to continue its legacy of innovation with the introduction of the third generation SureTrace Pro. Designed for use on energized or de-energized systems up to 600V AC/DC – including 3-phase systems – the groundbreaking SureTrace Pro is the most advanced circuit tracing and fault-finding solution available.

The complete SureTrace Pro kit includes:
  • SureTrace Transmitter
  • SureTrace Receiver
  • SureTrace Inductive/Sensing Clamp
  • Premium Lead and Adapter Set
  • USB A-USB C Charging Cord
  • AA batteries
  • Hard Case
  • Instruction Manual
Time-Saving Troubleshooting Features of the SureTrace Pro Circuit Tracer

The transmitter of the SureTrace Pro consolidates the features of multiple meters into one powerful unit. It measures AC amperages and voltages from 24-600V AC and 12-600V DC, confirms DC polarity, verifies receptacle wiring, and performs patent pending integrated continuity tests. Features like the built-in continuity tester and exact voltage readings are exclusive to the IDEAL Electrical SureTrace line. By eliminating the need to carry a secondary meter, this transmitter delivers a convenient, all-in-one solution that helps electricians work more effectively on the job.

Additional groundbreaking features of the SureTrace Pro transmitter and receiver include:
  • Premium OLED Rotating Displays: Electricians can view their readings easily and clearly using the two high-visibility and patent-pending displays – a main display and a TightSight™ secondary display on the bottom of the receiver. Both displays are bright, 90°-rotating OLED screens that auto-adjust, delivering easy viewing of readings at difficult angles and spaces like crowded panels.
  • User-Friendly Options and Customization: The receiver displays analog and digital signal strength along with battery and sensitivity levels. It also includes an NCVT, integrated work light, and adjustable volume/mute buttons. The work light permits electricians to keep tracing on dark jobsites, while the mute button provides the ability to silence audible indications in noise-sensitive areas.
  • Convenient CertainCircuit™ Technology: The SureTrace Pro also features the signature CertainCircuit technology from IDEAL Electrical. CertainCircuit turns breaker-finding into a one-person job using visible indications on the transmitter and receiver. After the correct breaker has been identified and tripped, the transmitter senses the loss of power and sends a different signal back to the receiver at the panel to confirm the right circuit has been de-energized.
  • Rugged Industrial Design: Built for the toughest jobsite conditions, the SureTrace Pro transmitter and receiver design delivers a durable, overmolded housing for secure grip and drop protection up to 6.6 ft (2 m).
Inductive/Sensing Clamp for Non-Contact Tracing and Amperage Readings

The SureTrace Pro kit also includes a new Inductive/Sensing Clamp that enables non-contact circuit tracing. The clamp induces a tracing signal by clamping around conductors at any point in their run – ideal for jobs where conductors are inaccessible or direct circuit connections are not possible or safe.

Rated CAT III 600V, the clamp delivers accurate AC amperage readings up to 600A. The rechargeable lithium-ion battery is integrated directly into the clamp housing, eliminating the need for separate battery packs or cords. The Inductive/Sensing Clamp also includes dual high-visibility displays, including a patented TightSight™ secondary display, to make readings easy to view in any position and lighting condition. The clamp is backwards compatible with any previous IDEAL Electrical SureTrace circuit tracer.

Smart 3D App Instructions for Fast, Interactive SureTrace Pro Setup

To ensure electricians get the most out of their new tracer from day one, the SureTrace Pro will be integrated with the BILT app. This high-tech app offers 3D intelligent instructions designed to introduce electricians to all the key features and capabilities of their new circuit tracer quickly and efficiently. Electricians can rotate, zoom, and explore the 3D models from any angle and listen to the instructions at their own pace.

Next-Gen Circuit Tracers for Modern Troubleshooting

With the launch of the SureTrace Pro, IDEAL Electrical completes the evolution of its third generation SureTrace family line. The SureTrace Circuit Tracer (61-946) and SureTrace Plus Circuit Tracer (61-948) successfully debuted last year and are already trusted on electrical jobsites worldwide. Together, these advanced tools offer electricians options for a wide range of tracing and troubleshooting needs – from a budget-conscious model for apprentices to a feature-packed premium model for professionals.

“The SureTrace Pro is the most advanced tracer we’ve ever developed,” said Chris Forthaus, Product Manager at IDEAL Electrical. “It’s the ultimate troubleshooting tool, and we’re proud to launch a solution that simplifies the crucial work of the professionals who power our world.”
