Intermatic New Long-Range Wireless Switch

September 30, 2024

Intermatic Inc. announced the launch of its new Long-Range Wireless Switch, a convenient wireless solution that helps homeowners control landscape lights, pool lighting, and other outdoor fixtures with the push of a button.

The simple control is designed to replace a standard light switch, saving homeowners the hassle of going outside just to turn lights OFF and ON.

“Too often, homeowners invest thousands of dollars to build a new pool or create a space for backyard entertaining only for light switches to be uncomfortably out of reach,” says Leigh Herman, IoT Product Manager at Intermatic. “Our new Long-Range Wireless Switch solves this common pain point with a versatile control that adds convenience to everyday residential applications.”

The Long-Range Wireless Switch uses 915 MHz wireless technology, which lets the signal bypass obstructions and metal enclosures, and has a line-of-sight range of 400 ft. Each switch supports a single load while each fob can control up to two switches simultaneously (e.g., nicheless pool lights and landscape lights).

“Competing solutions offer a much lower wireless line-of-sight range of approximately 60 feet, which can be prohibitive for end-users,” adds Herman. “Our best-in-class design provides a substantial upgrade to this and allows the control to perform in significantly more outdoor applications.”

Homeowners do not need to pair the Long-Range Wireless Switch with their home’s Wi-Fi network or smart lighting system – simply use the associated remote fob to turn lights ON and OFF. The wireless control offers an impressive environmental rating of -30 C to 70 C (-22 F to 158 F). It also includes a conformal coating on the circuit board to improve reliability and reduce oxidation issues. The Long-Range Switch can be paired with a 3R enclosure for all-weather protection and year-round use.
