Mitsubishi Electric Sales Canada Inc. Introduces the Hybrid Heating and Central Cooling System

The Hybrid System empowers homeowners with a furnace to improve their home comfort and sustainability by utilizing an energy-efficient electric heat pump when outdoor temperatures permit, switching over to the furnace during more frigid conditions. The switchover automatically occurs when the temperature outside drops below a specified point, which is pre-set during installation.

Mitsubishi Electric’s Hybrid System provides the best of both worlds – highly efficient heating and cooling through superior heat pump technology, using the furnace only as a backup heat source. The reduced operation of the gas or propane furnace results in 30% less GHG emissions.

The ideal solution for cold Canadian climates, the Hybrid System comes in standard heat pump or Hyper Heat, Mitsubishi Electric’s Cold Climate heat pumps.

Other Key Benefits and Features of the Hybrid System Include:
  • Flexible Installation:
    • Vertical, downflow and horizontal left/right
    • Control box can be mounted anywhere
  • Smaller copper tube diameter with grooved design provides more efficient heat transfer
  • Flare piping connections for quick, clean, and simple installations with no need for brazing
  • Automatically switches between heat pump and furnace operation to ensure comfort and maintain efficiency
  • High quality drain pan material with low moisture absorption and high heat capability
