From 2015 to 2016, journeyman electricians overtook the lead from project management professionals. See how well contractors in 6 other categories did.
Among respondents, journeymen electricians in late career have an hourly rate almost 30% higher than their early career colleagues. This survey has a smaller survey size, which may have an impact on the averages.
Among 265 job postings for electricians in six Canadian jurisdications, BC represents 42% — 1.5 times the number of postings in Quebec and 2.5 times the number in Ontario. Not included: industrial and power systems related jobs, or jobs in AB (2), MB (1), NL (1), and NT, NU, PEI, and YT (0).
This graph shows average salaries for the utility industry. In comparison to electrical contracting,the average salary for a master electrician is comparable at $78,000, topping out at $120,000 (among those surveyed).
Among five cities across Canada, the highest localized median salary for electrical engineers is $90,000, found in Mississauga, Ontario, adjacent to Toronto. Vancouver, BC comes in close behind at $80,000.
